The House of the Dragon Star Responds to Racial Criticism

We, unfortunately, live in a world where racism is still rampant, especially among those who hide behind their keyboards and computer screens. The internet is full of “trolls” who do nothing and try to criticize actors in certain shows and movies. This is the case of Steve Toussaint, who plays Lord Corlys Velaryon in House of the Dragon. The actor replied comprehensively to those who could say such horrible things. Touissant was recently interviewed by Men’s Health, in which he said: “They like dragons. They like white hair and purple eyes, but a rich black man? He’s too pale. “

Toussaint responds to his stature in the House of Dragons as a council member serving under King Viserys. Lord Corliss Valerian is also known as “The Sea Snake”, and we can imagine this because he probably had a large navy. While some were upset with the casting of Toussaint as Lord Corlys, it was never explicitly stated that the character in George R.R. Martin’s novel was fire and blood. The character is described as “light-skinned” because his parentage is Valyrian. Additionally, he is said to have “Targaryen-white blonde” hair, which he does.

While some say the same terrible things about Steve Toussaint, he said that House of the Dragon is much less than the talent of his cast and the people who support the character. According to Toussaint, “For every toxic person who was surprised that something found its way into my schedule, there are so many more people who are so helpful, and they’re like, ‘Oh my God, I can’t wait. I can’t wait, it’s going to be great!” Everyone will try to backstab each other—the Seven Kingdoms’ chance to rule.
