Season 5 of Yellowstone: Plot, Cast, Release Date, and Everything Else We Know

The new western drama series Yellowstone brings us the fifth season. Ever since the fifth season was announced in February, fans have spent months excited about what’s to come. It was later announced that the next season will have fourteen exciting episodes, divided into two seven-part episodes.

We were first introduced to Yellowstone in 2018, which follows the Dutton family, who own the largest ranch in Montana called the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. Over the course of the show, we see family drama surrounding the ranch, the Broken Rock Indian Reservation, the National Park, and land developers. The series became a hit, and Yellowstone is back with more exciting drama. A trailer has been released that excites fans who can’t wait to see what Dutton has in store. He promises that “all will be revealed”. Let’s take a look at what we know so far and what fans can expect.

Yellowstone Season 5: The Plot

The season 4 finale was an emotional roller coaster for Yellowstone. When John, Kayce, and Bet survive the attack, everyone is shocked because it was Garrett who ordered it. After discovering Jamie’s biological father has retired, Beth goes straight for revenge. Now fans are wondering what the Dutton family has in store. In particular, what will happen to Kayce and Monica, as it was revealed in season 4 that the couple was expecting unexpectedly.

There’s a fifteen-second mystery teaser showing Beth, Jamie, Kayce and Rip waiting for Jon to arrive. He makes a dramatic trip down the hall with Montana Governor Lynelle Perry, his daughter in a black dress with a cowboy hat. Season 5 will follow John, on his quest to become the next ruler of Montana, as he tries to find a way to manipulate Jamie until he gets what he wants.

As for the bad guys, while most of them stopped working in season 4, we can always hope that someone will come after Dutton and his farm. Fans better get ready for some extra drama this season.

Yellowstone Season 5: The Cast

Season 5 is supported by an excellent cast, including many favorites and even a new addition. Kevin Costner, of course, returns to Yellowstone as head of the house and rancher John Dutton. Fans will recognize Costner from his recent roles in Hidden Figures, 2017’s The Molly’s Game, and 2020’s Let Him Go. Kelly Reilly will play John’s daughter, who has substance abuse problems. He is also honored for his work in Sherlock Holmes (2009) and Flight (2012).

Luke Grimes, best known for his roles in American Sniper (2014) and the Fifty Shades film series, also returns as John’s youngest son Case. The original cast will include Cole Houser as Rip Wheeler, Kelly Aspel as Monica Long Dutton, Bracken Merrill as Tate Dutton, Jefferson White as Jimmy Herdstrom, Jill Birmingham as President Thomas Rainwater, and Lloyd Pearce stars as Faye J. Smith alongside Dunham Richards. Colby Mayfield, Ian Bohan as Ryan, Ryan Bingham as Walker and Finn Little as Carter.

It’s still unclear if we’ll be introduced to the final characters like Caroline Warner (played by Jackie Weaver) or Summer Higgins (played by Piper Parabo), but fans will find out soon enough. We can also expect some new faces around the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, as country singer Lenny Wilson will join Season 5. At the Under the Big Sky festival in Montana, Wilson revealed that he had some exciting news to share with everyone:

As much as we love a familiar face, fans now have something exciting to look forward to in Wilson’s new look on the show. We can’t wait to learn more about her new character Abby and what she brings to the story. We’re also curious about her character’s relationship with the Dutton family.

Release Date

Fans won’t have to wait long for new episodes, as season 5 will hit our screens on November 13, 2022 on Peacock. Yellowstone also has a predecessor, now titled 1923, that will include artifacts from after World War I. In the meantime, maybe it’s time to refresh our memories and look at the four seasons we already have. Season 5 air time.
