House of the Dragon: Fabien Frankel Says Ser Criston Cole ‘Changes a Great Deal’ During the Show

Spoiler Alert: Spoilers for House of the Dragons Episode 5 and Game of Thrones ahead

Royal weddings in Westeros rarely go well with George RR Martin in the background. The Red Wedding in Game of Thrones season 3 episode 9 saw the death of major characters like Robb Stark, his mother, Catelyn, his wife and the unborn child.

The Purple Wedding Season 4 Episode 2 would then feature another grisly death, poisoned by King Joffrey Baratheon during his wedding feast, effectively killing off the characters. Now The Green Wedding House of The Dragon Season 1 Episode 5. Although none of the main characters face an untimely death, the celebrations are exuberant.

Ser Criston Cole, played by Fabian Frankel, was at the center of the excitement as her character went wild in ways we hadn’t seen in the show’s first four episodes. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor discussed his role and how it will change in the upcoming episodes and seasons. “It’s really set up as something, and it’s changing a lot along with the show,” he said.

“That’s what excited me the most,” Frankel said. “He made a real wild and good-natured knight to protect Rainier. And for those who have read the book, it’s not at all.” House of the dragon, is Fire and Blood, the historical novel published by George RR. Like like television.

Ser Criston Cole Let Love Overcome Duty

As is often the case in the Game of Thrones universe, love is the death of duty. These are the words Maester Aemon spoke to Jon Snow in the first series, and they ring true for both series. Jon falls in love with Ygritte, Robb Stark falls in love with Talisa, and Kristen Cole falls in love with Rynira. Every show has a huge impact on the future of its show, and Fabian Frankel recognizes this.

During last week’s episode titled We Light the Way, Kristen Cole professes her love for Princess Rynira (Milly Alcock) and suggests that he leave Westeros and cross the ocean, where he might marry her should be allowed as he finally gets angry with Cole for aligning those two powerful houses, who beat up Lanner’s boyfriend at the wedding, leading to an alliance between Queen Alicent Hightower and Ser Criston Cole. Frankel discusses his role in The Green Wedding, telling EW that he wants to avoid conflict at all costs.

“I don’t think he’s looking for any conflict in this marriage. Instead, he wants to stay as far away as possible. Do what he won’t do. Go with him. I think she’s really saying he won’t go with her. This scene could have been written so easily [because] he asks her to run away with him, he understands why she would feel that way, she ‘can’t give up the role of queen.’, but what she would offer him That is the way out if he wants to leave the royal guard. This could very well be the scenario. It is not like that. It’s very interesting to me. He chose to keep it there. She kept him there during this marriage, here the enmity escalates.

Sir Kristen Cole is expected to have a fascinating character arc ahead, as the episode ends with Alicent Cole announcing their alliance, and whether she will ever seek revenge on Reira is up in the air; However, anything is possible for Frankel’s character now. Olivia Cooke and Emma D’Arcy are set to reprise their roles as Alicent Hightower and Rhinery Targaryen as episodes 5 and 6 time jump ten years.

Because of this, Ser Criston Cole will be a completely different character the next time you see her in terms of personality and loyalty because so much time has passed. Fans can see it when “House of the Dragon” premieres every Sunday at 9 am. ET on HBO and HBO Max is where it goes to character.
